Philipp Rothemund is a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Stuttgart (Germany) and head of the research group Functional Soft Robotic Matter at the Institute for Adaptive Mechanical Systems. He received his Ph.D. in 2018 from Harvard University (USA, supervisors: Zhigang Suo and George M. Whitesides), and holds a M.S. in engineering science from Harvard University and M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Before his appointment at the University of Stuttgart, Dr. Rothemund worked as a senior postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (Stuttgart, Germany), as a postdoc at the University of Colorado Boulder (Germany), and as a lecturer at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Spain). He is a member of the German Young Academy and holder of an ERC Consolidator Grant.
