Philipp Rothemund was awarded the Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers and Junior Professors 2025 by the Diamler and Benz Foundation. He will use the two-year-long fellowship to investigate the fundamental physics of electrohydraulic zipping experimentally and theoretically. Electrohydraulic zipping is the basic of many electrostatic soft actuators. The results of the project have the potential to drastically improve the performance of electrohydraulic actuators for a new generation of lifelike robots.
